One of the key moments of the MUFPP Global Forum is the Milan Pact Awards Ceremony: a unique occasion to celebrate and recognize the commitment of MUFPP signatory cities leading the transition towards more sustainable, inclusive, and resilient urban food systems.
Launched in 2016 by the City of Milan and Fondazione Cariplo, the Milan Pact Awards support the action of mayors in urban food policy while fostering knowledge exchange among cities. They also serve as a tool to monitor the results and progress achieved since the signing of the Milan Urban Food Policy Pact. To date, 621 good practices have been collected, building the world’s largest repository dedicated to urban food policies.
Following the 2023 edition held in Rio de Janeiro—where six cities were awarded and 18 received special mentions—the 2025 call invited MUFPP signatory cities to submit up to three practices across the Pact’s six categories: governance, sustainable diets, social and economic equity, food production, food supply and distribution, and food waste reduction. The submissions were evaluated by an international jury of experts, who selected the winning cities.
During the 2025 Awards Ceremony, six winning cities—one for each category—along with special mentions will be officially announced and celebrated.
The evening opens at the Piccolo Teatro Studio Melato in Milan with a cocktail reception (18:30–20:00), followed by the official Awards Ceremony (20:00–21:30).
