This field visit will present two food system experiences - the Food Alert workshop, designed to stress-test European food systems under climate-driven supply shock scenarios, and the Independent Food City project in Malmo, Sweden - an immersive experience first displayed at Southern Sweden Design Days 2024.
Participants will hear the project creators describe their processes and outcomes, and its relevance to city managers and planners. They will also have the opportunity to participate directly in the Independent Food City experience, to explore future food scenarios aimed at community leaders working to strengthen system resilience.
The event will also include an aperitivo and guided visit to the renovated canteen at Giusti Primary School and the Milano Ristorazione internal kitchen, offering practical insights into school meal preparation, sustainable practices, and urban food system management."
